Members of Caravan Club WA - at Collie State Rally 2008
The Caravan Club of WA Inc was initially formed on 12th September 1963 by a small group of caravan owner enthusiasts, and later became a registered incorporated association on 2nd October 1967. Currently there are about 70 caravan families (about 125 people) as members and this level of membership, or higher, has been maintained for many years. The Club is supervised by a Management Committee team that is elected annually at the AGM by the financial members. Also the review of rules and level of membership fees (currently $45pa) are considered annually.
The Management Committee arranges the yearly activity program of monthly caravan rallies, members’ socials and other related events, including a Christmas Party in December. Club rallies are approximately once a month, to a venue within about 250km of Perth, where members meet at the site for fun and friendship. Morning tea and afternoon happy hour gatherings, with evening entertainment are the main meeting times. There is also time to ‘do your own thing’. Once a year there is usually a ‘Roving Rally’ when participating members travel in convoy over a pre-arranged route through the WA countryside. The Club has its own large transportable marquee and sound equipment. Members take the marquee on rallies where shelter is required (if not provided on site) to be used for various events such as entertainment, community meals and general socialising. The Club provides its own insurance of its assets. It also has a public liability indemnity policy, through its affiliation with the WA Association of Caravan Clubs Inc. A monthly ‘Caravanning’ booklet is produced and distributed to members providing news of current events and a nomination attendance slip for the next rally.
Prospective members are required to attend three Club rallies before applying for membership. Young families with children are encouraged to join this Club. The rules provide that pets are not allowed at Club events. A van pennant, vehicle stickers, name badges and other relevant documentation are issued at induction into Club membership.
There is no limit on membership number levels.

There were 95 people in attendance and all were given an inscribed pen to mark the occasion. John and Margaret Kellock [foundation members] were there quite early setting up an impressive display of memorabilia. The closest longevity to the Kellocks is the 40 year members like Roy & Edith Harrison, Howard Baynes, Ted & Rhoda Walker and Kevin Noonan. There are seven 30 year members, and thirteen 20 year members in the Club. Recognition was also made of our past presidents, 11 of whom were present. During the afternoon John & Margaret Kellock were presented with their 50 years Gold Badges.
A scrolling photographic display depicting some people and events of the last 50 years kept playing and provided some information and entertainment while everyone was arriving. At the end of the afternoon everyone was requested to form a guard of honour at the entrance to the building to farewell the founding members in a Rolls Royce.
